Walk it. Claim it. Keep it.
Fareground turns the steps you already take into ground you own. Every 100 steps is a Walk Point. Spend them on a real 9-metre square of the world near you, find out what mineral is under it, and it earns you coins every month from then on, whether the app is open or not.
Try it: tap a lit square inside your reach to claim it. Next parcel: 50 WP.
Three things happen, in this order.
No energy bars, no waiting for a timer. The only input the game wants is the walk you were going to do anyway.
Your steps become Walk Points
Fareground reads the steps your phone or watch already counts, through Health Connect on Android and Apple Health on iPhone. There's nothing to start and nothing to stop. Fitbit, Garmin, Samsung and Apple Watch all count.
Spend them on ground you're standing near
The map lights up the squares within reach. Pick one, watch a short ad, and the block is yours. You can only claim where you actually are, and each square on Earth has exactly one owner.
It pays you, month after month
Every parcel turns out to be a mineral. Rocky ground trickles and a ruby pours. Coins build up while the app is closed. Watch a boost ad and your land earns 20× for half an hour.
You don't know what you've claimed until you claim it.
Five minerals, one roll per parcel. A ruby is a one-in-a-hundred square that earns ten times what plain rock does, and the phone thumps harder the rarer the find.
Rarer ground also builds higher on the map, so a good street stands out from a distance. Any parcel can be upgraded four times, for 25, 50, 75 and then 100 WP plus an ad each time. Every level adds 0.15 coins a month, so a fully upgraded rocky parcel earns double.
Reasons to take the long way home.
Claiming is the point, but it isn't the only thing waiting when you open the app.
The daily chest
3 WP on day one, 20 by day seven. If you miss a day, a streak save can cover you, up to twice a week.
Quests
Walk 3,000 steps, walk 8,000, claim a parcel, use a power-up. Small goals that add up if you finish them all.
Ring the doorbell
Walk past someone else's land and ring their doorbell. You both get Walk Points, and they get a notification that someone came by.
Treasure boxes
Boxes appear a few hundred metres away. You have to walk to them, and an ad key opens them. They expire, so don't wait too long.
Bonus Walk Points
Short on WP? Watch an ad for a bonus point every twenty minutes, plus an extra one after each claim.
A character that's yours
Build an avatar from parts you unlock, pick a title you've earned, and show off your badges.
Out-walk your city.
Every week your steps are ranked against your city, your region, your country and the whole world. The board resets on Monday, and the top three on each one win a coin boost for their land.
A board needs at least five walkers before it pays out, so nobody can win a village of one. If you place on several boards, you keep your best prize.
Straight about the money.
Coins are counted as whole numbers in a ledger that never gets rewritten — every single coin you've earned has a row with a reason attached. The plan is for them to be worth something real, and here is exactly what that rate looks like.
Cashing out is not switched on yet. Fareground is in beta, no one has been paid, and the redemption side needs to be built and checked properly before it is. Anything you bank now is kept and keeps earning — but treat the dollar figures as the design, not a promise.
It's a walk either way.
Fareground is being built and tested on real streets right now, on Android first. Invites go out in small batches while the map fills in. The Discord is where they're announced.
